" Hand crafted by a team of just 9 skilled luthiers utlising the finest hand picked tone woods. The Chester is my dream guitar "
Oh my.... Another proud find! I won't bore you with the background on this page but needless to say if you have followed me over the years you will know my personal recommendations are not made lightly.
An Auden starts life in a small workshop in China which employs just 9 dedicated luthiers. The Director of Auden Guitars visits regularly (who also happens to be the Owner of Gordon Smith Guitars - Basically, you could argue these are Gordon Smith acoustics!) to ensure consistent quality but also to ensure working standards, safety and welfare of the workers is top priority. Its a very "human" story and one I am proud to be associated with.
Every Auden guitar utlises hand picked tone woods - picked by Doug and once completed is fettled in the GS workshop here in the UK
The results are stunning.
I have been so impressed with the Chester I am having 45mm nut options made for me in cutaway & non cutaway - Cedar and spruce - Specifically for my customers.
The Auden Chester is my own personal favorite (if I had to pick one out) due to its fuller size yet clever styling that makes you feel like you are playing a much smaller guitar than you are.
I am told the lower bout is full dreadnought width but the upper bout pinches in giving the guitar a feel of a much smaller guitar. The result is a wonderful array of tonal options and playing styles that it can accommodate from strumming through to picking.
This model features solid spruce top and AAA matched rosewood back and sides.
If you look at the pictures you will see the exquisite attention to detail and the tone is incredible.

Auden guitars are a unique English brand.
100% hand made and I am hoping soon to bring you a video showing you the workshop where the guitars are initially crafted.
These first stages are carried out in Dougs workshop in China - this keeps the cost of production as affordable as possible. All the wood is personally selected by Doug (owner of Auden & Gordon Smith Guitars in the UK).
Once the bodies and necks are complete they are shipped to the Auden workshop in the UK where the hardware is fitted, the nut and bridge are cut, final setup and all the electronics are fitted.
This wonderful collaboration between Dougs workshops provides you a genuine English branded hand made guitar.
The results are simply outstanding.
In the past 12 months Richard & his customers have been so overwelmed by the quality of these guitars that Richard has had a range commissioned for him called the "45 Series". Same guitars but with 45mm nut - recognised by a lovely 45mm logo design on the headstock.
Click on the Youtube logo to see some of Richards videos that will help you see and hear exactly what Richard loves about these beautiful guitars.
