As you may know I handle all aspects of running Richards Guitars and have to balance the overal needs of the business against when I can be open to chat with customers one to one in store. I have realised that by changing my "day off" from Wednesday to Monday brings further improvement to the service I offer.

We set up "sold" guitars on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So if a guitar is setup on a Tuesday afternoon there is a lot of pressure on packing this box either on the Tuesday afternoon (which rarely occurs as I am busy with customers) or on the Thursday the guitar is due to leave (I dont like sending guitars on a Friday as I dont like them being stuck in a depot). This generally means I book the guitar in for delivery on my "day off" (Wednesday) and pack it either before work on the Thursday or between customers. As a result of all this I tend to tell customers not to come in on a Thursday morning as I am up to my armpits in cardboard.
OK - So the new system with me opening Tuesday right through to Saturday provides me with a "proper, unbroken" working week. Guitars which are setup on a Thursday can be packed by me anytime between Thursday afternoon, Friday or Saturday, ready and booked in for Tuesday dispatch. Guitars which are setup on the Tuesday can be booked and packed on Tuesday, Wednesday or indeed the Thursday AM. So much more continuity, less stress and uncertainty all round. It also adds an extra delivery day which benefits the customer too (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).
