Loving the guitar, and can highly recommend Richard's for friendly and efficient service with no sales pressure.
I emailed Richard’s guitars and got a reply from Jon. I got booked in for a 3 hour session.
Upon arrival I was shown to a private area which contained many guitars that fitted my requirements which I had discussed with Jon via email.
I was provided with an amp and everything I needed including a cup of tea.
I had however taken my own amp and headphones, I wanted to replicate playing at home.
There was no hard sell, no unwanted interruptions, I had 3 hours to play what I wanted on whatever I wanted.
The range of guitars wasn’t huge, but it was teaming with quality, Gordon Smith, Eastman, valiant to name a few.
Very pleased not to see a sea of fender and Gibson as the only choices.
I was looking for a Gordon Smith and I was not disappointed. However, if it wasn’t happy with the Gordon Smith guitars on offer, Jon would sit down with me and discuss the custom build options.
This was a fantastic experience being able to play guitars uninterrupted and without a pressure sell at the end was so refreshing.
The overall experience was very positive.
There are some areas that could be improved upon, for example, making it clear on the website that the best experience is to contact them and get booked in. Just turning up unannounced could prove disappointing.
Also, keeping the website up to date with what’s in stock and what isn’t.
There was a guitar available on the website which I would have liked to have played but it wasn’t actually in stock, and the opposite was true there was a guitar out of stock on the website which I got to play and was actually awesome (but a little heavy for me)
With that said, if your serious about guitars and you are looking for something a little different then I highly recommend Richard’s guitars, I’ve spent 47 years going in and out of guitar shops, I’ve owned dozens of guitars but this was the best, most relaxed and enjoyable experience I have had.
