This is my first Auden guitar. It's quite the occasion, unboxing it and then removing the dark grey Auden-embossed hard case from the large Auden-branded bag it comes in. Then, opening the case, there's a further layer of soft packing material before the sleek lines of the Auden Artist Smokehouse cutaway are revealed. What struck me first was the impeccable build quality. I had tried an Auden Chester in Richard's showroom as a taster but I bought this unseen, to order. This is a Spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a combo I have in a Gibson J45, which is a big boomy guitar. The Auden is completely different though. It's lighter, sweeter and more refined. The 43mm nut width is comfortable and the on-board electrics are very good. When you add the usual brilliant customer service from Jon and Chris, it was a very enjoyable buying experience.
This guitar is supplied with the custom pro setup package worth £225 which I highly recommend you read about.

This is an absolutely beautiful guitar and is well worth looking at for anybody looking for a special instrument with a unique wood profile.
Brazilian Rosewood is getting harder and harder to get hold of these days so getting it at this kind of price is a rare opportunity, and the woods on this example are stunning too. -particularly the sides!
Sound-wise it's well balanced and clean sounding, with a rich and thick low end but still plenty the expected Taylor brightness and vibrancy.
The Taylor expression system unfortunately no longer works, so the previous owner had an LR Baggs Anthem fitted. The controls of this have got some glue runout by the edges, so it's not perfect, but the pickup still works and it sounds excellent.
It's a guitar that has been loved and used, and there is some moderate fret wear but nothing to be hugely concerned about - just some light knocks and marks here and there.
The serial number dates it to 2003 - 20031015134
It sadly doesn't have any of the original paperwork but is in the original hard case
