I bought this guitar to replace my Dreadnought style acoustic which, much as I loved it, was giving me severe shoulder pain. Six weeks on and I’m really pleased with this Lag.
The build quality is excellent down to the minute chamfer on the edge of the finger board. The decoration is very simple so I feel happy that I’m paying for the wood and construction, not mock mother of pearl inlays.
There are no dead spots on the neck and the intonation is better than I can detect. Also the tuning is very stable: left un-touched for a week it remains in tune.
The sound is well balanced: while it doesn’t have the richness of the dreadnought (which cost close on twice the price of this Lag) it doesn’t have that poppy/boxy sound which I’ve heard on other slim lines (e.g. Yamaha’s APX 700ll).
There is a very slight neck heaviness to the guitar but once in playing position (as opposed to balancing it on a leg whilst reaching for beer) or supported with a strap, this is not noticeable. For me this is a very comfortable instrument to play: the neck feels substantial without being club-like and the profile suits long gripped chords and single note runs equally well.
All in all I’m very happy with this guitar
…. and … no frozen shoulder.
Finally, the service from Richard’s Guitars has been excellent: I bought on recommendation (video and a brief chat) and the updates on the order’s progress were exemplary.
