Cort G290

This is my first purchase from Richards guitars and I was very impressed. The guitar was much cheaper than competitors, which is why Richard’s caught my eye. As expected Cort make great guitars for other brands and they don’t disappoint for their own range. Great for the player that isn’t too hung up on the standard top brands.
The guitar does a “Ronseal” job. The neck is great on this guitar and no sharp fret ends. It was well set up out of the box, thanks to the team for putting 9 gauge strings on!
I recommend the use of the chat function to discuss your order, as opposed to phoning.
More a note for any first time buyer, if you don’t need the guitar next day I would definitely recommend Richard’s guitars and use the aforementioned chat function to discuss order queries.
Thanks

Best guitar for the money on the planet

Many thanks to Richard (and Jake in the support team) for safely delivering an outstanding guitar. Great set up and in perfect condition - looks lovely too (better in real life than the photos).

This is a very versatile, highly playable instrument with some impressive specs. An equivalent Fender (and I like the Fender brand) would probably cost £1500! Superb neck, lovely contours (particularly the heel access), quality wood choices and excellent hardware make this an amazing package. It is also worth noting that the trem stays in tune, even if you give it some vigorous use! The Cort branded locking tuners are clearly doing a very good job in this respect.

Pickups are nice and balanced, with a good range of tones available via the 5 way switch (‘splitting’ options in positions 2 and 4 are very handy).

Finally, the fret work is very nice indeed - making for a very comfortable playing experience.

Many thanks again to Richard and the team. Great to know that there’s an independent retailer with an excellent business model: the best instruments at sensible prices.

Great hardware

A well made guitar but only really suited to one style of playing.
This is the third guitar I have bought from Richards in the last 12 months and have visited the shop twice in that time. I totally get where he is coming from an the service has always been good. This guitar how ever I bought in the summer sale blind as it were. The price was very good for the spec. I just thought it might be more versatile and in my opinion it's not. Plays well for rock/metal stuff.

Fantastic Experience!

I've reached 48 and wondered why on earth I've waited 41 years to scratch the itch to pick up the guitar. Classic mid lifer moment?? Not really sure it is and actually I dont care. My daughter has started learning so it felt like a great activity and also, gives my mind somewhere healthy to go after a stressful day.

But if I'm honest I was worried about being judged, bit intimidated by the whole process.
After researching I stumbled across these videos from Richard and ended up watching one about 'why them, why spend extra money for setting up the guitar when you can shop around and save a few quid. But everything Richard said was on the money. Spend reasonable money on the kit so it doesn't become the limiting factor and source of frustration (that's my job!). Good quality instruments will hold good value so if I decide I wasn't destined to be the next Gilmore, it wouldn't cost the earth to have scratched the itch if I sold it on.

I had lots of good chat online with Jon and Jake, went into store for a bit of a play (questionable use of the word), saw the Cort G290 and felt immediately comfortable with it and actually thought it is a gorgeous looking guitar. More good advice from Richard because you've got to love picking it up.

The guys were excellent, really knowledgeable, friendly, patient and most importantly passionate. Actually, it's the kind of place where I'd love to just find an excuse to hang out and chat to them about 'stuff'.

Within a month I'm now screeching out Top Gun Theme tune, Smoke on the water, switching cords like a hero (perhaps not yet) but I'm really enjoying it and if my finger tips aren't sore each day I feel annoyed I've not had the chance to pick it up.

Exceptional job everyone!

An amazing spec’d guitar for the price

What a great guitar! Looks, plays and sounds great. Had to do a bit of home setup when it arrived; bad fret buzz on the low e and a strings around the 5th fret, but easily fixed by putting a bit more relief in the neck and half a turn of the saddles. Without trying one straight from the supplier it’s hard to compare the value of a ‘Richards setup’ but seeing as it’s ‘gratis’ it’s not going to be a bad thing. Overall I’m very pleased.

Hi Robin - I am sorry about that buzz which was clearly caused in transit during the busy Xmas period. I am sorry about that. Trust me - the value is worth its weight in gold and am sure you will find the overall finish, playability, fret ends, nut slots, fret ends - impecible.
