SMJ LEGEND Series Acoustic "Control" Pedal

Well I'm impressed, if not stunned. A lot of functionality in a tiny pedal. It is however the noisiest pedal on my otherwise whisper quiet pedal board, but it's early days and this is my first phaser pedal so I need to spend more time with it. Very reasonable cost and worth it to learn how to use a phaser.

I have put this on my board ahead of a Tone City Sweet Cream and Boss Blues Driver and dialled in a mid range push. The result is just great with a Telecaster and Fender Deluxe Tone master - a noticeable boost in mids without a ridiculous boost in volume but it's early days for exploring the tonal capabilities of this pedal. It is tiny as are the switches so not so easy to adjust on the fly (at least with my eyesight!) but my first impressions are wow! A lot of pedal in a small enclosure and at a very small price.

Bought this to play my Faith electro-acoustic through my newly acquired Supro Delta King, instead of investing in an acoustic amp for recording. Does the Job nicely, eliminating feedback with a few tweaks and giving a range of really clean sound options. The Top and Body controls are particularly effective for shaping the guitar sound, adding some welcome higher frequencies. No added noise to the signal chain but a bit of a 'clonk' from the on/ off button when engaged. Drops a star for this, but 5 stars when you consider the £20 price tag!

Not a sexy sounding title huh? This was my experience though, and even with my amp lubed up I still found it a little rough. At the end of the day it's a Fuzz pedal. It works as a Fuzz pedal. Just not sexy at all unfortunately it's not so much warm and juicy as sadly rough and brittle. Maybe through an Equaliser it would help but then again many crap pedals sound better through something else. I can't recommend it but it is very cheap if all the above doesn't affect you at all

Arrived quickly and well packed. Have bought four of this series now and they all have very useable sounds with very little or no noise . I would recommend 'Richards' and these pedals to any players looking for quality and good service.

I bought this along with a guitar. Not too heavy metal, despite warnings!! It's rapidly becoming a permanent fixture on my board. Great value!!

Five-band eq pedal, takes up very little space on the board. I'm using it as a boost effect...

I have a stack of OD/distortion pedals, but this was my first fuzz. And I couldn't make the damn thing work, it just farted and cut out. WTH? I contacted Richards and we got there eventually. User error, obviously. Pedal chain order does really matter. Thanks to Jon for listening and taking the time to help me resolve the issue...

Mini pedal which fits on any board. Excellent generic 60s sounds for 60s price. Great value for money. I’m quite taken by this little pedal and may well investigate more in the range. Well done to Richard for sourcing sound quality without highly marketed prices.

SMJ compressor pedal arrived very quickly. It's tiny but very solidly built. Great compressor, works perfectly.

The compressor pedal is excellent and was super cheap. No complaints there. However the process and packaging was somewhat disappointing. The pedal arrived in a padded bag which would have been fine except the box inside had come apart and the contents, box and lid where rattling around loose. No damage done but an elastic band would have sorted that. Process - slow and confusing by today's standards. I have received stuff from China in a similar timeframe and what is it with having to wait for an email to pay? Very confusing. Also why do Richards think every sale is a guitar and refers to free setups (which they don't now do on every sale?) Emails, invoices blah blah all refer to a guitar sale regardless. I appreciate that Richards are a small company without the resources of the big boys but like hotel owners should sleep in their own rooms, Richards should try buying from themselves. Not quite as good as they think they are? Sorry for the rant but I hope it is useful feedback. As I say all ok in the end but this would not be my first choice of supplier.
