The Udo Roesner DaCapo75 was the talk of the 2020 NAMM show this year. Named after its creator Udo Roesner who was the original designer of the original AER amplification brand.
Tommy Emmanuel has already taken a shine to the amps and has started using the Da Capo on his most recent tour!
If its good enough for Tommy then I had to check one out - Oh my goodness am I glad I did? INCREDIBLE
Essentially it’s a twin channel amplifier designed for the professional singer/songwriter.
I have to be 100% honest. I don't sell AER amps even though they are considered the benchmark. To me they have always sounded a little TOO boxy. This beauty is nothing like what I ever recall hearing from an AER...
They have focused on low end and recreating the dynamics of an acoustic instrument, so the amplifier behaves like more of an instrument, than a HI-FI. They have achieved this through a combination of cab porting, increased size transformer and current flow, custom design dual concentric drivers and analogue A/B power amp.
It sounds utterly incredible.
Whilst Acus amplifiers (which I ADORE) are also incredible tonally what is so evident in this amp is every pound you are spending is on YOU - your sound and not 4 or 5 other players. Its NOT a mini acoustic PA like the Acus. Instead, you are buying into a thoroughbred acoustic amp with you and only you at the heart of it (saying that it does have twin inputs /controls which I think is essential for voice and instrument or a duo).
All this means the amp is much smaller than an Acus - much lighter than an acus and ultimately the tone is off the scale and I have to say it sounds better than an acus too in my personal opinion.
Its not the cheapest - but it is the best.
