Its Not Always A Happy Ending
One of my favorite adverts was one by Honda which said at Honda they don't use the word "OK" and instead they use the phrase "What If". I LOVED that advert and found it so inspiring. In keeping with the true spirit of ‘Day of the Dead’, this aptly named guitar features unique, bespoke graphic designs that celebrate life and death, a joyous event with multi-coloured artefacts that has a long history within Mexican heritage.
With custom control knobs featuring skull and cross bone designs and ‘Lucky 13’ logo, this ProShop guitar is far from spooky or gruesome, look closely, these ‘happy skull’ graphics are among the most iconic and recognised symbols that have inspired poets, writers and musicians in Latin America and globally for many years.
The Vintage ProShop ‘Day Of The Dead’ is based on the Vintage V100MRBK, a stunning guitar from the very popular Vintage ICON Series. A classic in itself, the V100MRBK is very much admired for its seriously authentic, distressed aesthetics, sound and playability, a model that’s pride of place in professional guitar player’s guitar racks around the world.
With the distressed black overspray revealing areas of the original Sunburst finish and aged black hardware, the Vintage ProShop ‘Day Of The Dead’ is certainly a striking guitar…in more ways than one.
Stunning looks aside, the Vintage ProShop team have rewired the electrics to include a Kill Switch that completely cuts off the signal, to both Wilkinson WHHB high output humbucking pickups.
Whilst these pickups are renowned for their power and exceptional tone, now, with a Kill Switch in the circuit, sustaining solo notes and chords can be interrupted with each rhythmic touch of the switch, to create staccato, pulsating, oscillating sounds that are incredibly effective when used with effects.
The Vintage ProShop ‘Day Of The Dead’ solid bodied electric guitar, not only highlights the skills of these incredible luthiers, it’s also a showcase for their uncanny knack to dig deep within their imaginations, to once again create a seriously cool, one-off custom Vintage ProShop guitar.
Vintage ProShop Set-Up includes:
- Fret-level, crown and polish.
- Fingerboard dress and comfort treatment.
- Truss rod adjustment and set.
- Action height, radius, intonation and pickup height adjustment.
- Nut slot regulation.

The Vintage ProShop ‘Day Of The Dead’ features bespoke graphics and unique, evolutionary body shape, with a graceful descending bass side shoulder and an ingeniously-designed offset heel providing improved access to the upper reaches of the fretboard.
Black over-sprayed Wilkinson T.O.M. bridge providing ultimate fine-tuning of each string for superb intonation.
Pair of Wilkinson WHHB high output humbucking pickups, mixing traditional appearance with contemporary punch and power.
Custom Skull Cross bone design with ‘Lucky 13’ logo.
