FGN J Standard Iliad, JIL3ASHDE664R Open Pore Black Electric Guitar

After 20 years of only playing acoustic I decided to bite the bullet.. This is my second guitar purchase from Richard having bought a Furch several years ago. My FGN arrived in immaculate condition and beautifully set up playing perfect right out of the box. I was set on wanting a telecaster style guitar but after playing a number of fenders was always left disappointed. The quality of the Japanese craftsmanship cannot be overstated. In terms of how it plays it has a very flat fretboard which is a big plus for me and it does weigh a little more than average for a t style guitar but I guess thats what you get with solid ash bodies. At £849 including the full workshop setup this guitar is an absolute steal. I will enjoy playing it for many years to come.

I bought the FGN T style as a gigging backup for a Fender Custom Shop guitar. So, how come it’s more ‘in tune’ all over the fretboard, sustains better and has a superb range of tones from the pickups ? It’s excellent value and even came with a heavy duty gig bag. Delighted!

Being in lockdown everything's a bit messy, but the Richard's team was very pleasant to deal with, albeit phone only. The guitar included a free setup which was done very well--intonation and action all perfect - no buzzing or other anomalies.

The guitar is fantastic, really a great instrument -- I've never owned a compound radius neck -- but really like it. It's noticeable, but not at all awkward to play. Also a matte finish on the 'back' of the neck which is great.
The pickups are great; they sound like what you'd expect, but that's a good thing. The tone control is good, very progressive, not a simple on/off type pot.
Overall fit/finish is high quality, it's as nice as my Dusenberg at 1/2 the price. I'm very happy with it.

Another great experience with Richards Guitars. Beautiful, beautifully well-built guitar. Made even better by the discount because of a scratched scratch-plate (but surely that’s what it’s for!). Arrived promptly and tremendously well packaged. Sounds like heaven even with my ham-fisted attempt at making it sing. Can’t fault it. Thanks again to Richard.
