" Lush - Classy - Sweet Toned - Boutique Vibe - Frankly, everything you WON'T get from a Taylor 214CE "
By pure chance, when my first model arrived today I was so lucky to be able to compare this guitar to its direct competition. A customer had brought in his Taylor 214CE for setup. Apart from the fact we had to tell him to send his guitar back to where he purchased it (geometry was so poor setup was impossible), comparing the actual tone of these 2 guitars was night and day.
The Taylor had its characteristic bright tone but bright - with no texture or characterful detail. Just bright. Swapping over to the Faith it was immediately clear that that torification of the top has a genuine impact on the sound of the guitar which to my ear I would describe as sweet toned. You will also see from the pics that this process creates the honey finish characteristic of guitars that have aged over time.
The guitar oozes quality from every angle - even the case is very smart and better than the average Faith hardcase.
The Earth body shape follows Patrick Eggles personal design - Its just beautiful and I am so proud to be promoting Faith guitars (as always) at this very exciting time.
The Legacy model is worth every penny of the upgrade from the hi gloss series so if you have the budget - spoil yourself - I know you won't regret it on this model.
Focusing solely on Patrick James Eggle’s historic acoustic body shapes, our new PJE Legacy Series guitars set a new bar for professional excellence.
The Sitka Spruce tops of these guitars have been kiln-aged through a process of torrefaction or torrefication. The Spruce is air dried before being roasted in a kiln with precise controls over atmospheric and oxygen levels to reduce its moisture content. Then as the wood cools, precise amounts of moisture are re-introduced to the wood. The resulting timber is more stable – always good when used as a topwood - and aurally, it produces a rich, mellow tone with a mature voicing which would take perhaps 20 years of waiting to achieve under normal circumstances. Treating Spruce this way has its benefits on the way it looks too with it taking on a golden-caramel colouring that sees this series radiate an authentic, grown-up vibe.
Paired with a range of African Khaya Mahogany and Rosewood back and sides, these guitars have real power and depth of tone. They also feature solid high-figure, Flamed Maple bindings, Figured Ebony fingerboards and bridges, and bone nuts, saddles and bridge pins. Also for the first time in our history – each guitar has a solid Figured Ebony pickguard.
Based on Patrick James Eggle’s ‘Linville’ model, the Earth is a true Orchestra Model (OM) shape and is the newest addition to the Faith family. Although sharing many geometric characteristics with our highly acclaimed Venus shape, the Earth has its own set of distinguishing features that make for a unique tonal palette, plus it is truly unique, having been drawn by Patrick’s own hand.
In true OM fashion, its 15” lower bout is flattened at the base, and at 4.45” deep, its shallow body makes for a comfortable mid-sized guitar.
