I am so excited to bring you news of not only a wonderful new distributor — who I truly believe can finally help me bring you Godin guitars as I’ve wanted for so long — but also something completely new… a genuine step into the boutique acoustic space.
And WOW… they’ve absolutely done that.
The Godin Connaisseur is one of those rare guitars that immediately tells you it’s been built by people who truly understand the relationship between wood, feel, and tone. On paper — or on screen — there is simply no way to do justice to what I experienced today.
Handcrafted in Canada, this is not a production-line acoustic trying to look premium. This is a genuinely refined instrument, designed for players who are sensitive to detail and expect their guitar to respond accordingly. So don’t make the mistake — (like maybe I did?) — of thinking you already know what to expect.
If you’ve experienced something like a Godin Multiac or LGXT, then perhaps it won’t surprise you… but their top-end steel strings are every bit as impressive — and I mean in every detail.
At its core is a beautifully voiced solid Engelmann spruce top, paired with solid mahogany back and sides. The result is a tone that sits right in that elusive space between warmth and clarity — open, articulate, and incredibly balanced — with a natural compression that makes it feel effortless under the fingers.
The mini-jumbo body shape is a particularly thoughtful choice. It gives you much of the depth and projection of a full jumbo, but with a more controlled low end and a slightly more intimate, responsive feel — equally at home for fingerstyle players as it is for more dynamic strumming.
In the hand, it’s an immediate wow moment. The guitar feels every bit as refined as it sounds. The mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard provide a smooth, confident playing surface, and that 16" radius gives it a slightly more modern feel. You could say it leans towards electric players — but at no point does it feel anything other than a serious, first-choice acoustic. I absolutely love it.
Where the Connaisseur really sets itself apart is in the detail — meticulous detail. The inclusion of Graph Tech RATIO® machine heads is a perfect example. Gorgeous — and incredibly precise. Each string has its own calibrated gear ratio, so tuning feels completely natural and intuitive. It’s one of those features you don’t realise you need… until you experience it.
Plugged in, the guitar is equally impressive. The LR Baggs HiFi system captures the instrument with remarkable honesty — no artificial sheen, no compression — just a clear, dynamic representation of the guitar’s natural voice. Whether you’re recording or performing, it translates beautifully.
Finished in a deep Sunset Burst high gloss, this is another one of those moments where the photos simply don’t tell the story. In person, it’s something else. And I’ll be honest — I know exactly which guitar I’ve been thinking about all afternoon.
The Connaisseur isn’t about gimmicks or hype. It’s about feel, balance, and musicality — the kind of guitar that quietly becomes a long-term companion.
No surprises, then, that it carries the Godin name. And if you’ve ever owned or played a Godin, you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Of course, this guitar has its work cut out proving itself alongside the instruments I already recommend so highly — Dowina, Furch, Auden and Eastman. But you know what? This is different. This is special. And if you have the budget for something truly exceptional that stands apart from the crowd, I think you’re going to love it.
I’m genuinely excited to see what my customers think — and whether this might be the beginning of something very special moving forward.
Intrigued? I really hope so 😊
