Dowina Brilliance

Fantastic guitar to play. It has a feel of quality I have only felt on some boutique guitars, so easy to play because of the perfect set up, and looks as good as it plays.
All solid wood, and with craftsmanship of this quality virtually unknown, unless you pay double to triple for a mass produced guitar, just because of a name it has on the headstock.
This guitar feels like it was made especially for you and the sound is awesome, as good or better as any guitar costing a heck of a lot more.

looking for a guitar to improve my acoustic playing both finger picking and strumming with a budget of £1000. I didn’t think that I would able to afford a handmade guitar of such quality. Liked being able to choose between different wood options. I have gone for the Dolomite spruce and African mahogany. Nice smart simple inlays and I like the satin finish, A nice touch is the pencil signature of the person who made it up just inside the sound hole – makes you realise that you are dealing with something that someone has put care into making.
Neck very easy to get to grips with -most of my guitars’ necks are slightly narrower but it is very easy to shape chords etc. Slightly harder to get my thumb over the top but I suspect it is just a matter of adjusting technique slightly. The body was slightly larger than my other guitars but still comfortable to hold and after having it a month I feel very comfortable playing it. Set up very nicely with good action with no fret buzz etc.
The sound is something really special – very clear bright, well-balanced tone with a great sustain – sounds like you hear guitarists playing on records! My previous acoustics had been solid wood mid-price -range from larger manufacturers and I was worried that I wouldn’t notice a difference but this is a real step us sound-wise.
At the moment I am house-bound and not able to visit shops to try out different options. I was very nervous about buying on the net. I went for Richards as I liked the idea of having it properly set up for me. They were very good about giving advice. We discussed on line what I was looking for and in the end the guitar I went for was cheaper than the one I originally suggested. But I am more than happy with it: a lovely guitar

A fine all-round acoustic guitar

Very pleased with my purchase - the sound rings out sweetly ,loud and clear and with nice sustain - I wanted the treble and not too much bass which is why I chose the spruce/mahogany combination, great for recording, song accompaniment and more. The neck feel and profile is just perfect, very comfortable and fast, as is the nut width and string spacing. I like the feel of the wooden tuner buttons and bindings, and the string to string tuning is excellent all the way up the neck.
I enjoyed the buying process, being informed of the set-up progress through the workshop, the set-up well worth waiting for.
As with all newly made acoustic guitars, there will be some settling in of the timbers under string tension, and this was no exception, so after a week or two I sanded about 1.5 mm off the underside of the bridge saddle to get the action back down again. Just one star off as on this example the fingerboard isn't totally flat over the neck-body joint so with a low action set for most of the neck a tiny bit of fret buzz possible just when you get all the way up there but the same can be said of guitars I've paid three times the price for.
So in practical terms a great sounding, feeling and playing guitar, can recommend Dowina, many thanks.

LOVE MY DOWINA!!!

Richard's Guitars is such a great place! I came especially from Slough to Stratford just so I could buy a guitar from them. Went for my appointment and I had the whole showroom to myself. Great service from the whole team that was there. They really know their stuff and I love how they don't follow the status quo of everyone else. They have some really special guitars there and I love my Dowina so much! It chimes so beautifully that you can hear it resonate everywhere in the house. Set-up was included, pre-sales and after-sales service was amazing. Always replied with any questions I had. Got nothing but superlatives for this place.
